One of the KVOE listening area’s two service centers on the Kansas Turnpike has a new owner.
The Matfield Green exit, owned for several years by EZ Go, is part of a sale to Love’s Travel Stops. Love’s acquires five of the six travel stops along the Kansas Turnpike — the Emporia service area being the only exception — as well as six on the Oklahoma Turnpike and 11 other convenience stores in Nebraska and Oklahoma.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. New branding and signage is expected over the next 12 months.
The Emporia service exit is owned by Fast and Friendly.
The ownership change comes as work is either underway or coming soon to change restaurants at both the Emporia and Matfield Green service exits. Emporia is changing from McDonalds to Subway and Taco John’s, while Matfield Green is shifting from Hardee’s and Dunkin Donuts to Dairy Queen and Subway. Both changes should be finished this summer.
