Emporia State athletes set a school record and earned 6 top 6 finishes on day 1 of the KU Relays.
Alyssa Conway set a new school record in the Hammer throw, She had a throw of 194 feet 7 inches and finished in 4th place. She was the top collegiate thrower. Her throw is the top throw in the MIAA and 5th best throw in the nation this season.
Jamie Diaz finished in 2nd place in the 10000-meter run.
Asher Moen was 2nd and Cody Achilles 5th in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Tyler Swift finished 3rd in the 1500-meter run.
Aaron Hunt finished 6th in the pole vault.
The KU relays continue today.
For Emporia State Abigael Reid will be running in the 400-meter dash and as part of the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
Jake Johnson will be running in both the 110 and 400 hurdles.
Jake says for him the hurdles are a perfect fit.
The KU High School Relays begin Friday.
Emporia High will have 13 athletes competing in 7 events.Junior Blake Spellman will be a part of the boy’s 4x400m relay.
Osage City will have 4 athletes competing at KU – Landon Boss in the shot put, discus, and javelin. Lexi Boss and Greta Crawford in the discus.
Council Groves Lakoddah Downs will be competing in the 2000 steeplechase.
Burlington will have athletes competing in the 4 x 100 relays, the girls’ 4×400 relay, and the boys’ 4×200 relay. Keeley Hoback will run in the 100 hurdles.
The KU relays wrap up Saturday.
