This Tuesday, an annual event to raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis is returning to Emporia State University.
Laps 4 Landon is an event held in April by ESU’s Health and Human Performance majors at ESU. It is named after 16-year-old Landon Dody, who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis within the first few months of his life. and the event serves as a fundraiser as well as an awareness booster for those who live with the disease daily, including other area patients like Aiden Dreier of Olpe.
Dr. Jennifer Thomas, Health and Human Performance Professor at ESU describes how crucial raising awareness for CF during events such as these can be as so much about the disease is still unknown.
Additionally, Dr. Thomas says that every year the community’s support is overwhelmingly positive.
Laps 4 Landon will take place at the Emporia State Student Rec Center beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction, various sports, the Lazy Butt BBQ Crew, as well as a bouncy house, and more.
All proceeds raised at the event go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to support ongoing research efforts.
