Today let’s once again talk about Sunday Brunches available in Emporia. This is because Bobbi and I brunched at Radius Brewing this past Sunday and a while ago I talked about Union Street Social’s Brunch.
Emporia’s decade-old brewery, Radius offers a large brunch menu broken up into several categories:
Shareables are served Family Style and highlight offerings: Poutines – French fries topped with scrambled eggs and delicious gravy, Pretzel Bread and Dip – to die for, and the Beignets we ordered which are a doughy fritter covered with powdered sugar and served with a strawberry sauce. Wikipedia indicates Beignets translates in French to a Nun’s – aaa, I’ll let you will check on that! Our Alexa verified the translation. It’s funny for some.
Eggs Benedicts are one of my favorites and Radius offers a Classic with Canadian bacon plus a Pastrami Benedict and a Smoked Salmon Benedict.
Specialties include 3 breakfast sandwiches, Avocado Toast, a Burrito, an amazing breakfast Brick Oven Pizza, Biscuits and Gravy, and a chicken and biscuit concoction.
Radius’ A La Carte menu is robust and very reasonably priced.
We were told there would be a 40-minute wait upon arrival, but we could sit at the bar. What a great decision.
A young man was washing bar glasses right across the bar from us so we struck up a conversation. He’d worked there five years and was actually the general manager. Interesting! Owners Gus, JJ, and Chad need a GM and one of his duties is washing dishes! Sounds like a well-oiled operation.
Another interesting story from the bar was about the bartender, a three-year veteran mixing a large drink that turned out to be a bulk carryout, Bloody Mary. After mixing several liquids including one Radius has developed “in house” the large can was put in a machine that sealed the lid on complete with a screw-off opener. Very ingenious! They also offer bulk Mimosas.
Emporia has many outstanding Sunday morning breakfast options. Bobbi and I suggest trying one out and sitting at their bar if they will let you. It can be very informative.
