Emporia State University Albert Taylor Hall was full of members of the community who attended the Emporia Symphony Orchestra concert which concluded its Spring concert season Tuesday Night.
Members of the community were able to listen to a variety of musical compositions including Grand Canyon Suite by Groffe and the world premiere of Dr. Gary Ziek’s Concerto for violin, orchestra and jazz.
Emporia Symphony Orchestra Conductor Dr. Ramiro Miranda says he is happy the concert was part of the finale of this season as he has been planning it with Dr. Gary Ziek since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Emporia State University Music Professor and Director of Jazz Essembles Dr. Gary Ziek says he knew what he wanted to show in the presentation and that it was a process to compose the different music as it has mixes of tango, blues, and samba.
The Emporia Symphony Orchestra is formed by Emporia State students, staff, faculty and members of the community.
