Part of South Prairie Street will be closed to thru traffic beginning Thursday.
Prairie will be closed from West South Avenue to Road 160 for 10 days, weather permitting. The closure, which involves the location and installation of underground utilities, is part of the early work now underway as the Lyon County Highway Department begins a $5.4 million project to build a 21,000-square-foot maintenance shop and bridge shop.
Work will take place in front of the Highway Department property. Residents and businesses nearby will still have access to their properties, either from South Avenue or Road 160.
This comes as unrelated intersection work continues at Prairie and West Sixth until at least August.
