Lyon County deputies blocked part of Interstate 35 just east of Emporia for several hours after a crash Wednesday evening.
Lyon County Sgt. Zach Shafer says deputies shut down I-35 at mile marker 135 southbound, or the Road R-1 junction, shortly after 6 pm when a cattle hauling truck overturned at mile marker 134, a mile further west. The truck was hauling at least 30 head when the crash happened. No injuries have been reported to humans, but an untold number of cattle have died.
It took almost five hours to reopen the highway.
