The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Northeastern State Saturday.
The Lady Hornets won the first game 7-1. Emporia State scored 4 runs in the 1st inning. Scoring a run on an error, Ari Cordova double and a single by McKensy Glass. They added a run in the 2nd inning on a Josie Harrison double. In the 6th inning, Abby Ward hit a 2-run home run. Gracie Rabe was the winning pitcher.
Northeastern State won the 2nd game 7-2. Haley Garnett hit a 2-run home run in the 4th inning to give Emporia State a 2-1 lead.
Northeastern responded with a 5-run bottom of the 4th and never trailed the rest of the game.
The Emporia State softball team is now 32-20 for the season and 12-12 in MIAA play.
They will close out the regular season next Saturday at Washburn.
