The Emporia State baseball team was outscored by Central Oklahoma 10-3 Friday night.
The Hornets were outhit 16-6.
Central Oklahoma pitchers struck out 16 Hornets.
The game was close thru 4 innings with Central leading 4-3 after a 2 run home run by Emporia States Kadyn Williams in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
Central took the lead for good with 3 runs in the 5th.
Emporia State Coach Seth Wheeler said they were unable to cash in on all their opportunities.
The loss ends Emporia States’ chances of advancing to the MIAA tournament.
Game 2 of the series will be played this afternoon with the first pitch at 2 pm. The game will be broadcast on MIX 104.9.
