Construction has started on what will be Emporia’s newest hotel building.
Fairfield Hotels has started ground-level work to turn the former Cracker Barrel and Montana Mike’s restaurant building at 3010 Eaglecrest into an 80-room hotel with convention center space for 200 attendees. The property had been vacant since Montana Mike’s closed in 2017.
This follows demolition work in December to flatten the previous building. The hotel will go up with several hotels already established along West 18th and Eaglecrest Drive. Emporia city commissioners approved up to $13 million in industrial revenue bonds in November for the project.
