The Emporia State softball team’s season ended Thursday afternoon in an elimination game in the MIAA Tournament against Missouri Western in Topeka.
Missouri Western ended the Lady Hornets’ season with a 9-1 victory in five innings.
After being in a rain delay after a half inning, Missouri Western struck for five runs in the second inning before Emporia State got on the scoreboard.
The Lady Hornets got their only run in the third inning on an RBI single by Alexis Dial.
Missouri Western tacked on one in the third and three in the fourth for the win.
Emporia State finishes its season with a 33-23 record.
