Emporia High has a new head football coach.
Kaden Glinsmann was named the next head football coach of the Spartans as approved by the USD 253 Board of Education Wednesday.
Glinsmann says his program will have a front porch mentality that the community will want to get behind.
Glinsmann comes to Emporia from Polson High School in Polson, Montana where he served as head coach for the past four seasons. The Pirates went 27-12 in his four seasons as head coach. He turned a 4-5 team into a 10-1 from his second to third season.
He was an assistant coach at Carroll College (Mont.) in 2018 and briefly was an assistant at Bethel College in Newton. Glinsmann was an assistant at Wichita Heights from 2015-2017. Prior to that, Glinsmann spent five seasons at Helena High School (Mont.).
Knowing that he’s already turned one program around and the recent history of Emporia High, Glinsmann wants the Spartans to compete.
Glinsmann says his team will play fast on both sides of the ball.
Glinsmann was one of about 20 applicants for the position. Emporia High Athletic Director Beau Welch says Glinsmann checked all the boxes off their list.
Along with his football coaching duties at Emporia High, Glinsmann will teach Physical Education at EHS.
Glinsmann replaces Keaton Tuttle who spent two seasons as head coach. Tuttle resigned in March to take an assistant collegiate coaching position.
Glinsmann and Welch will be upcoming guests on Saturday Morning Sports Talk this Saturday.
