USD 253 Emporia broke ground on the latest projects as part of the multi-million dollar Building for the Future Bond Initiative Wednesday afternoon.
Board members, administrators and project officials all convened at both Riverside and Timmerman Elementary Schools. Timmerman and Riverside are the seventh and eighth projects of the bond initiative with work completed on Walnut Elementary School, Emporia High School and the Jones Early Childhood Education Center. Meanwhile, work is nearing completion at Village Elementary, Logan Avenue Elementary and Emporia Middle School.
William Allen White will be the final school to see work as part of the initiative which could begin in the first quarter of 2024. McCownGordon Construction Senior Project Coordinator Eric Woltje says it is exciting to be nearing the finish line of the initiative.
Woltje says the various improvements at each building focused on both creating a stronger learning environment while also increasing safety and security for students.
Work at Timmerman and Riverside could be completed by January of next year with work hopefully beginning shortly after at William Allen White. For more details on the building for the future bond initiative visit USD253.org.
