Want to be part of the HYPE? If so, Emporia Main Street is looking for you.
Main Street has developed what it calls a HYPE Team to help welcome visitors to Emporia’s big community events and to positively promote the city. Main Street Events Coordinator Jessica Buchholz:
At community events, HYPE Team members will be available to answer questions and to encourage people to use the #ExploreEmporia hashtag when attendees post about their experiences locally.
On the social media side, Buchholz and Main Street board member Erren Harter say HYPE Team members can share Main Street-generated content to build outreach on as many platforms as possible.
HYPE Team members will also be asked to volunteer at least four times a year, whether at events or special projects. Two-hour shifts are expected.
Main Street locally was introduced to the idea from Macon, Georgia, during the National Main Street Conference in Boston earlier this spring.
The Main Street Board of Directors has already invited several people to be part of the team. If you want to be part of the HYPE Team, applications are due by Monday. Click here for the application link. Orientation sessions are set for 10 am May 20 and 6 pm May 24.
