The city of Emporia has made its second administrative hire in less than a week.
Brandi Galbreath has been named the city’s new community housing coordinator. Galbreath is now responsible for administering and coordinating the city’s Americans with Disabilities Act compliance programs. She will also serve as the city liaison to various assigned boards and she will also help with social service and other grants for organizations both in the city and the community as a whole. On top of those duties Galbreath will focus on landlord-tenant issues and help process and investigate discrimination complaints related to employment, housing and public accommodations.
Galbreath most recently served as the outreach manager for Southeast KansasWorks, focusing on community outreach and engagement workshops across a 17-county area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human and social services from Ottawa University.
Galbreath’s hire follows the selection of Tayler Wash as the city’s new director of special projects. Wash is responsible for coordinating and managing special initiatives and projects, overseeing coordinators in housing and economic development and performing grant research. Wash will also study the city’s changing needs, recommending programs and services designed to augment how city government impacts and interacts with the community. As part of that, Wash will create a Citizen’s Academy Program to educate local residents about city government and its operations.
Galbreath started her new role Monday. Wash begins her new role June 6.
