The Emporia Police Department is seeking firsthand accounts related to an investigation of inappropriate touching that allegedly occurred at Emporia Middle School Friday.
According to EPD, an investigation began Friday evening following the school’s spring dance after several reports of inappropriate conduct involving an adult and students. EPD says as part of its investigation “several interviews have been conducted and many more are needed.”
Police have also reviewed security camera footage from the school related to the incident. Police are asking for any students or parents who have firsthand information about the incident to contact EPD at 620-343-4225.
Witnesses are asked to leave their name and phone number so detectives can contact them. The name of the individual allegedly involved has not been released and USD 253 Emporia has announced it also investigating the situation.
USD 253 Community Relations Director Lyndel Landgren says “Student safety is our top priority and we take all concerns seriously.”
