A lot of updates and a few decisions are ahead for the Emporia Recreation Commission Board on Monday.
Board members will get a final update on the Jones Aquatic Center management agreement before possibly approving that document. The current agreement has already been revised to include additional funding for salary enhancements benefiting Aquatic Center lifeguards and managers, but it needed a second revision to add language on “acts of God,” including pandemics and significant weather events like tornadoes, that would negatively impact the Rec Commission’s operations of the facility.
Also, board members will discuss — and could approve — a GolfZone simulator and new fitness room flooring as part of separate items.
Up for discussion, but not listed for action, is a conversation about indoor pool circulation.
Besides those topics, board members will get an update on early work through the Future Funding Task Force, which meets separately at noon Monday and is researching funding options for either a renovated Lee Beran Recreation Center or a new facility. They will also review timetables for the fiscal 2023-2024 budget and will discuss the plan to send out a request for proposal for audit firms.
The meeting is at 5:30 pm at the Lee Beran Recreation Center.
