Emporia Police are continuing to ask firsthand witnesses to an alleged incident at Emporia Middle School last Friday to come forward with information.
According to Emporia Police Captain Lisa Hayes, more than 20 interviews have been conducted after reports of “illegal touching” between an adult and students following the school’s spring dance Friday night. The interviews have included the alleged suspect whose name has not been released.
No arrest has been made at this time. Those with firsthand knowledge, parents or students, are asked to contact Emporia Police at 620-343-4225.

Following EPD’s update Tuesday morning, USD 253 Emporia released the following email to Emporia Middle School parents and guardians.
“The district would like to provide a brief update regarding Emporia Middle School. While the school district sorts through information provided by various sources, it has been mutually agreed upon that the staff member will not come to school through the end of the week. If you have any questions please contact Mr. John Martin, EMS Principal.”
