A short vehicle pursuit led to an arrest by Chase County deputies Tuesday night.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies tried to stop an allegedly speeding vehicle around 11 pm. Deputies also say the driver, later identified as 38-year-old Corey Coyle of El Cajon, California, briefly sped up before coming to a stop.
As part of the resulting search, deputies report finding numerous blank and tampered checks along with an unspecified number of ID cards, bank cards and credit card numbers.
Formal charges are currently pending through the Chase County Attorney’s Office, but Coyle was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, identity theft, forgery, making false information, destroying a written instrument, marijuana possession, driving while suspended and being a habitual violator.
