Lyon County’s first notable fentanyl distribution case is ending with a plea instead of a trial.
Right before his bench trial was set to begin, 34-year-old Terry Don Cummings pleaded no contest to possessing between 10-99 units of fentanyl with intent to distribute. A count of felon in possession of a firearm was dismissed.
Sentencing is now July 12 before Judge Lee Fowler. Cummings could receive almost seven years in prison and a fine of up to $300,000.
Cummings was originally charged with distributing around 200 false oxycontin pills as part of an incident in January 2022.
