After discussions for years on the general topic, residents are encouraged to learn more about Emporia’s proposed changes to zoning regulations in the city limits.
The city has been in the process of drafting, reviewing and adopting new subdivision regulations as well as a new official zoning map that will be known as the city’s Regulating Plan. The process paused for several months last year after Emporia city commissioners said the review process under outside consultant Jim Kaup was taking too long, so the commission approved a second outside review that has since concluded.
