Status hearings are coming Wednesday for a pair of suspects in the Jesus Avila murder.
Jovan Pecina will appear before Judge Jeffry Larson at 3 pm with Andrew Granado set to appear at 3:30 pm also before Judge Larson.
Both are facing charges including but not limited to first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, conspiracy and arson in Avila’s death in September 2017. Pecina and Granado’s hearings come three weeks after the alleged gunman in the case, Samuel Garcia, pleaded no contest to second-degree murder, as well as conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.
Judge Larson found Garcia guilty on all counts with sentencing now set for Aug. 9 at 1:15 pm.
Co-defendant Alan Alanis has a review hearing July 13. Another co-defendant, Armando Nunez, is in the middle of a 47-month sentence after pleading no contest last year to attempted burglary of a vehicle with intent to steal a firearm, interference with law enforcement and criminal damage.
