Work continues on repaving part of US Highway 50 west of Emporia.
Kansas Department of Transportation engineer Dustin Hardin says crews have started the “second and final lift” of asphalt between the Lyon-Chase county line and Lyon County Road E-5, but there is other work ahead before the project officially ends by late June or early July. Hardin says crews will need to pave entrances and side road connections, with work on rumble strips, edge wedge and pavement striping to finish the work.
Hardin says traffic will still be constricted for the rest of the project.
This is a $3 million project. APAC-Kansas Shears Division was awarded the bid.
