Two Emporians were hurt and hospitalized after a crash on the Kansas Turnpike southwest of Emporia on Friday morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened at mile marker 99.4 southbound, nearly 30 miles southwest of Emporia and just north of the Matfield Green service exit. The crash log says 21-year-old Hunter White was driving. At some point, the car went off the highway to the left. White overcorrected, sending the car across both lanes of traffic and into a ditch before it rolled at least once.
White was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with suspected minor injuries. A passenger, 19-year-old Alexandra Matson, went to Wesley with suspected serious injuries. The Turnpike Authority says there was a third person hurt in the wreck, but the crash log indicates that person is a juvenile with record-protected data.
