It was going well for the Kansas City Royals until the 8th inning in Friday night’s 7-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
The Royals were leading 2 – 1, Edward Olivares hit a solo home run in the 2nd inning and Drew Waters added a solo home run in the 3rd inning. Starting pitcher Jordan Lyles worked 5 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits, 8 strikeouts, and 1 walk.
But in the top of the 8th, the Rockies scored 6 runs to earn the win.
The Royals and Rockies play again Saturday afternoon. Daniel Lynch will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch at 3:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 2:30 pm.
The Royals made a roster move Friday. They recalled Jackson Kowar from Omaha and placed Amir Garrett on the Injured list with an elbow injury.
