Emporia’s third annual Pride celebration will kick off in downtown Emporia Friday evening.
The community is invited to take part in the second Pride Live at the corner of 7th and Commercial from 5 pm to 10:30 pm. Organizer Hank Osterhout on KVOE’s Newsmaker Wednesday morning says Pride Live, and all corresponding Pride activities, is open to anyone and everyone.
He says last year’s event saw a great turnout of individuals from all walks of life which was an encouraging sight to see.
The schedule for Pride Live is as follows:
Liam Angulo
Cas Samples
Emporia’s Pride Choir
Orion Turner
ESU Summer Theatre
Madeline Rodriguez
Brandi Smith
Justin Peterson
Dru Rutledge
Luz Ballestar
Pity and The Fools
Activities will continue Saturday with the Emporia Pride Parade at 6 pm from 12th to 8th on Commercial Street in downtown Emporia.
Activities will conclude with the Emporia Pride Drag Show at the Granada Theatre at 8 pm. For those who have never been, Osterhout says the show is “an experience to live for” with a very important message.
Tickets for the drag show are available at KSFreeForArts.com. For more information find Emporia’s Pride Celebration on Facebook.
