The Kansas City Royals lost a close one to the Baltimore Orioles Friday night, 3-2.
Baltimore scored single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings. The Royals scored a run in the 3rd inning, Nicky Lopez tripled and scored on a Nick Pratto sacrifice fly. Baltimore took a 3-1 lead with a run in the 5th inning. The Royals added a run in the 7th inning. Maikel Garcia scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. Royals starter Daniel Lynch gave up the 3 runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk over 6 innings for his first quality start.
The Royals and Orioles play again Saturday afternoon. Brady Singer will be the starting pitcher for the Royals with the first pitch set for 3:05 pm.
The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino exited the game in the 7th inning with right shoulder soreness. He will be re-evaluated today.
The Royals also placed outfielder Edward Olivares on the restricted list to deal with a personal issue. He could return Saturday. Nate Eaton was recalled from Omaha to take his roster spot.
