One inning proved costly for the Emporia 16s baseball team in an 18-4 loss to the Capital City Monarchs Wednesday night.
The Monarchs scored 13 runs on 9 hits and 3 Emporia errors in the 2nd inning to build a lead that would be too much to overcome.
The Emporia 16s score all 4 runs in the 7th inning. Madden Seidl tripled to drive in 3 runs.
Coach Anthony Markowitz said they made too many mistakes.
The Emporia 16s will be playing in a tournament at the Trusler Sports Complex Friday and Saturday. They will play the Topeka Scrappers and a team from Lawrence. Game times will be 10 am and 2:30 pm both days.
