The Kansas City Royals let another lead slip away in a 6-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers Monday night.
The Royals scored 3 runs in the 4th inning. Bobby Witt Jr hit a solo home run and Maikel Garcia hit a 2 run home run. In the 5th inning, Bobby Witt Jr drove in a run with a single to give the Royals a 4-0 lead. Royals Starter Jordan Lyles pitched well enough to earn a win, but he was handed a no-decision when the Tigers scored five runs in the seventh inning. Lyles exited with no outs and two runners on, only for reliever Taylor Clarke to give up a two-run single, a walk, and a three-run home run. The Royals are 0-15 when Lyles is the starting pitcher.
The Royals and Tigers play again Tuesday night. Daniel Lynch will be the starting pitcher for the Royals. The first pitch is set for 5:40 pm. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM beginning at 5 pm.
