It’s just about time for the Reading Tornado Trot and Trail.
The event was started in 2011 after an EF-3 tornado heavily damaged the community and killed one person. Proceeds benefit Handlebars of Hope, a charitable organization that provides free bikes — especially for disadvantaged residents in Mexico. Organizer Jann Briggs says it was important to pivot as a way to give back to another cause.
Registration opens at 6:30 am Saturday, with a rolling start to the 14.5 or 26-mile bike rides and 5K run/walk between 7:30-8:30 am. Cost is $25.
Additional information, including route information, is on the Tornado Trot and Trail Facebook page.
