A seasonal start to the week gives way to abnormally hot conditions by the middle of the week.
Highs in the low 90s for Monday and Tuesday will be replaced by triple-digit heat to close out the work week, with air temperatures of 104 expected Wednesday, followed by 103 Thursday and 100 Friday. Thursday could well be the most miserable of the three-day heat burst with heat indices expected at 105-108 areawide.
There will be occasional rain chances this week. Tuesday morning has a slight chance of showers. More showers and storms are possible late Thursday night through Saturday night, with the best chance of rain setting up for Friday night.
You’re encouraged to pre-hydrate before the heat settles in Wednesday. Once the heat is here, drink lots of water, stay in air conditioning or the shade as much as possible, move any strenuous activities to the morning or evening if that’s allowed and wear light, loose-fitting clothing. Also, keep a close eye on young and old alike. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles when it’s this hot.
