An investigation continues into a burglary originally reported to have taken place at the David Traylor Zoo.
According to the city of Emporia, the burglary occurred at an Emporia Parks Department Maintenance Building at 60 Sodens Road between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Police originally reported the burglary occurred at the zoo’s maintenance building, however, City Communications Manager Christine Torrens later corrected that statement saying no materials were taken from zoo property.
Suspect information is still pending, however, police say the suspects stole a 1994 Ford F-350 pickup truck — with city stickers on the sides — and various power tools including chainsaws and backpack blowers. The estimated cost of the stolen materials is more than $8,000.
