A pair of railroad crossings in Emporia will be closing soon.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe says crossings at East and Peyton will shut down for maintenance starting as soon as Monday morning. Closures could last as long as July 28.
Residents are asked to avoid those crossings and follow all posted detours while the closures are in effect.
Separately, a traffic light in downtown Emporia could remain “on flash” for up to six months after a recent lightning strike.
The city says the strike caused “significant” damage to the cabinet. Supply chain issues mean the damaged equipment may not be fixed for three months at minimum.
