Last week’s heavy rainfall came too late to impact the Drought Monitor’s update map last week. That rain also had no impact on the update posted Thursday.
Moderate to extreme drought still covers the KVOE listening area north to south, with exceptional drought in southwest Greenwood County south of US Highway 54. Most of Lyon County, including Emporia, is in moderate drought, but conditions worsen to extreme drought in the far southeast corner of the county.
Storms late July 4 and early July 5 brought anywhere from 1-5 inches of rainfall across the entire KVOE listening area. That was the last notable rainfall for the KVOE studios.
