An event Saturday connected the current interest in the spiritual realm to Emporia’s longstanding interest in the topic.
The first-ever Flint Hills Spirit Fair brought nearly 20 vendors to the Lyon County History Center. Flint Hills Paranormal organized the event, and co-founder Brandy Nance liked what she saw — both from vendors and residents.
History Center Curator Lisa Soller tells KVOE News Emporia has hosted mediums, palm readers, clairvoyants and others spirit-based presenters — sometimes for large gatherings — since the 1870s.
Vendors brought jewelry, card readings, chakra balancing, oils, teas, dream catchers and T-shirts. Nance says the fair has been on Flint Hills Paranormal’s radar for years, but organizers felt this was a good year to develop the event with the COVID-19 pandemic emergency now over.
