A man accused of leaving the scene of a fatality incident in downtown Emporia late last year has a preliminary hearing in the case Wednesday.
The alleged incident at Sixth and Constitution on Dec. 15 involved the death of 50-year-old Osvaldo Laffita-Ramirez. Angel Manuel Alvarado is accused of leaving the scene. He also allegedly loaded Laffita-Ramirez’s body in his vehicle, drove two blocks from the scene and left as officers began their investigation.
Alvarado is accused of leaving the scene of a fatality accident, criminal desecration, interference with law enforcement, methamphetamine possession and paraphernalia possession. The prelim is at 9 am before Judge Doug Jones.
Alvarado has an unrelated hearing on charges of battery, attempted criminal damage and violation of protection order at 12:45 pm Tuesday.
