Teams are gearing up for the third annual Bryan Douglas Memorial Softball Tournament set to take place this weekend.
The annual event is held in memory of Douglas, a chiropractor and longtime member of the Flint Hills Optimist Club, who passed away in 2021 following a battle with cancer. Lori Douglas, Bryan’s wife, says softball was a logical way to honor her late husband as it was a major activity within their family.
The tournament will take place Saturday at Santa Fe Park with pool play beginning at 9 am. The tournament is a co-ed event and costs $200 per team with all proceeds going to support the family of 16-year-old Ethan Lif who is currently battling osteosarcoma an aggressive form of bone cancer.
