If you want a way to explore what’s outdoors, you actually want to go inside Flinthills Mall on Saturday.
The reason: Twin Rivers Junior Shooting Sports is holding its third annual Exploring the Great Outdoors Expo. Event spokesperson Bev Hilbish says the goal is to expose kids to what they can enjoy and — yes — explore.
Other booths will be set up for Vamos a Pescar, Leap of Faith Martial Arts, Dynamic Discs, David Traylor Zoo, Lyon County 4-H, Emporia Fire, Emporia Police, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
EGO is from 10 am to 2 pm. The first 100 students who attend and sign up will get free T-shirts. Children will also get passports to try out different activities and return those for door prize drawings. The event, including hot dog lunch, is free to attend.
