A man who pleaded no contest to trying to bring contraband into a Lyon County facility earlier this year was sentenced Monday.
Rhett Barker received 18 months probation with an underlying 18-month prison term. He also has 12 months of postrelease supervision.
Barker had pleaded to attempted trafficking in May after an incident in late January. Other counts, including drug and paraphernalia possession, were dismissed.
In other cases from Lyon County District Court, a plea hearing is now on the docket for mid-August after a four-county chase beginning in Lyon County last year.
Rebecca Estrada has already been sentenced in Franklin County to 10 years in prison after hitting a Franklin County deputy and causing a nearly four-hour standoff before her arrest. In Lyon County, Estrada is charged with flee and elude, interference with law enforcement and traffic violations.
And as requested, a preliminary hearing in a Lyon County sexual exploitation case was delayed Monday.
Christopher Garr’s defense team requested the delay to go through evidence through the discovery process. Garr is accused of one count of exploitation after an alleged incident with a child under age 14 a year ago.
Garr’s new preliminary hearing date is Sept. 18.
