People needing fans can get one at no cost through the Salvation Army of Emporia.
Capt. Mylie Hadden says the Salvation Army has received 30 fans from Sutherlands. Hadden tells KVOE News the fan pickup requirements are the same as for food pickup.
Typically, the Salvation Army also gets fans from Evergy, but that did not happen this year.
Hadden will join KVOE’s Newsmaker segment at 7:20 am Friday for an update on the fans, as well as demand for rent, utility and food assistance this summer.
