The Kansas City Royals dropped the series finale to the Cleveland Guardians Wednesday afternoon, 8-3.
Cleveland led 7-0 before the Royals got on the scoreboard when Maikel Garcia had an RBI double.
Cleveland scored its final run in the sixth. The Royals got a run in each of the final two innings. Dairon Blanco had an RBI double in the eighth and MJ Melendez had a solo home run in the ninth.
Alec Marsh went 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits and had three strikeouts.
The Royals outhit the Guardians, 12-9.
Melendez, Salvador Perez, Michael Massey and Freddy Fermin each had two hits.
The Royals are off Thursday before beginning a six-game homestand. Minnesota will be in for three games beginning Friday night. Brady Singer will start for the Royals.
