It’s been a busy summer for the Emporia High girls wrestling program.
The Lady Spartans wrapped up a 3-day mini wrestling clinic Wednesday night at Emporia High School.
This is the third year the program has held a mini clinic and had its highest turnout. Coach Shawn Russell says it’s great to continue to see girls wrestling grow in Emporia.
Sophomore Kensley Medrano was working her first mini clinic. Medrano says it’s important to do clinics like this to get their names out in the community.
Russell says the wrestling room this summer has been busy with wrestlers looking to gain reps to prepare themselves for the upcoming season. The Lady Spartans also got to compete in several tournaments according to Russell.
Emporia High’s first competition this winter will be on December 2 when it hosts a tournament.
