The Kansas City Royals defeated the Minnesota Twins, 8-5 in 10 innings Friday.
On a 3-2 count with the bases loaded down 5-4 in the 10th, Bobby Witt Jr. hit a walk-off grand slam. It was his first career walk-off hit, home run, and grand slam.
The Grand Slam was the seventh walk-off grand slam in Royals history and the first with the Royals trailing.
Kyle Isbel gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the third on a solo home run. The Twins took the lead with two in the fourth. The Royals got a pair of RBI singles by MJ Melendez and Witt Jr in the sixth. Witt Jr. also had an RBI single in the eighth. The Twins tied the game in the ninth with two and took a brief lead in the 10th.
Taylor Clarke earned the win in relief.
