A four-vehicle collision in south Osage County sent at least four people to Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka with varying levels of injury Friday.
The crash happened just after 2 pm on US Highway 75 a mile north of the Interstate 35 junction and about eight miles southwest of Melvern. The Kansas Highway Patrol crash log says an SUV driven by 21-year-old Collin Dawdy of Park Hill was northbound, while the other three vehicles involved were southbound. Dawdy’s SUV went across the center line for unknown reasons and sideswiped a pickup driven by 55-year-old Robert Griffin of Osage City before slamming head-on into an SUV driven by 47-year-old Danyel Monaghan of Topeka. Dawdy’s vehicle then crashed into an SUV driven by 43-year-old Crystal Foy of Topeka.
Dawdy has suspected serious injuries and was hospitalized afterward. Griffin has possible injuries and was also taken to the hospital. Monaghan and Foy both went to the hospital with suspected minor injuries. The crash log does not list the names or possible conditions of five juveniles in Monaghan’s SUV.
All involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
