The USD 253 Emporia School Board has a pair of meetings Wednesday.
Board members will officially start with a special meeting for the annual board retreat. No action will come from that meeting.
Following the retreat, the board moves into its regular meeting. Board members will continue recent work on handbooks, including guidelines for certified staff, classified staff, substitute teachers and administrators as well as the athletic handbook for Emporia High and Emporia Middle School. In addition to the latest construction update from McCownGordon, the board could approve a memorandum of understanding between the Flint Hills Special Education Cooperative and county jail facilities in open session. A separate memorandum of understanding between the district and CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness, along with an addendum to the concurrent enrollment partnership between USD 253 and Emporia State University and minor updates to the district’s emergency operations plan, will be handled on the consent agenda.
Three executive sessions are planned, one for personnel matters and two for evaluating the performance of Superintendent Allison Anderson-Harder.
Both meetings will be at Mary Herbert Education Center. The board retreat is at 5 pm, with the regular meeting at 6:30 pm.
