The emotional peak of the Lyon County Fair is typically reserved for Premium Sale night, and Monday was no exception at the Fairgrounds Show Arena.
4-H participants say they have enjoyed this year’s fair, but they were also a bit wistful to let go of their animals. Bethany DeDonder had a steer up for sale.
Lacey Rust was looking at the positive side of things.
Chloe Fischer says it will be a busy next few weeks, even though the Premium Sale is now behind her.
Clara Patterson was sad heading into the sale.
Brody Peak of Emporia Livestock Sales says it’s a way to bring numerous communities together. He also says it’s a great way for 4-H’ers to do some networking.
Lyon County Commissioner Ken Duft, a Fair Board member for years before recently coming off the board, says success — at least this case — takes everybody involved.
Current Fair Board members also went out of their way to express their thanks to buyers and supporters of the 4-H Premium Sale.
