Emporia High junior River Peters is a national champion.
Peters was a part of the Wichita Padres that won the 9th/10th Grade Boys MAYB National Championship last weekend in Wichita.
The Wichita Padres went 8-0 over the course of the tournament.
Peters was a guest player on the Padres and says he enjoyed his time being successful with them.
There were 73 teams in his division from across the Midwest including Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas.
Peters is one of three starters returning for the Emporia High boys basketball team this winter.
