Next month, LCAT begins a project to change its weekend service model.
Director Shane Brunner tells KVOE News fixed routes will go away, effective Sept. 16. In their place will be a greater emphasis on the demand routes.
Brunner says this is a move that makes sense because of Emporia’s size, and it’s one that reflects post-COVID traffic. Riders can get a one-way or round-trip ticket.
Brunner also says weekday traffic is starting to see a similar pattern away from routes and more towards demand-based services. Brunner says there are some initial tests underway, which could lead to “condensed” routes in certain areas of town and a conversion of one route bus to a demand bus.
