Kansas Gas Service says a boiler issue led to Thursday’s gas leak call to Emporia’s Sacred Heart School.
Manager of Public Relations Dawn Tripp says there was a leak in the boiler identified after at least one round of safety checks. The cause is to be determined.
The potential leak was reported just after 8 am, bringing Kansas Gas and Emporia Fire on site to investigate. Kansas Gas says two people were evacuated, while Emporia Fire has said the strongest gas smell was in the kitchen area.
