An Emporia man accused of leaving the scene of a fatality crash and then moving the body away from the scene could learn his potential trial start dates at his next hearing in Lyon County District Court.
Angel Alvarado’s pretrial hearing Friday was moved to Aug. 29 to allow his defense time more time to review materials through the discovery process.
Alvarado was charged after a crash at Sixth and Constitution in mid-December 2022. Alvarado allegedly left the scene of the wreck, which killed 50-year-old Osvaldo Laffita-Ramirez. Alvarado also allegedly loaded Laffita-Ramirez’s body in his vehicle, drove two blocks from the scene and left the area as officers began their investigation.
Alvarado is formally accused of leaving the scene of a fatality accident, criminal desecration, interference with law enforcement, methamphetamine possession and paraphernalia possession.
